What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey?

I enjoyed the whole experience even though some things were overwelming to me.Discovering the small portion of what is out there available to us was fantastic!!

How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?

There are so many things to "play" with and playing is very important. I learned so much & I love learning, so my goals are always going to be within my grasp.

Were there any take-aways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you?

I guess the time factor was the big issue. I had to work on this alot at home because work was too busy for me to take time out & concentrate on just this. But I did find out that I like blogging, it's so easy!!!!

What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?

Same as above.......I understand that it takes time to do something right . The concept was great though!!

And last but not least…
If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you again chose to participate? ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M IN!!!!!

How would you describe your learning experience in a few words or a few sentences, so we can share our successes and promote this program?

This was an oppertunity that we would not have been able to accomplish without the great help of Jennifer Howell. She gave us guidence and encouragement and was always in touch with her emails. THANK YOU!!!! It was a wonderful learning experience and I can't wait to see what we can discover next!!!!!

Week 9 WOO HOO!!!

I am very familiar with YouTube, but due to the slowness of my home PC dial-up, I would still be sitting here next week loading a video !! From past viewings, there are some videos there that are not suitable for public library viewing so when kids are on it at work I will be watching more closely at what they are watching and giving out warnings!! But there are a few videos on there that are done by some local kids that are quite funny which I thought was pretty neat.
The podcasts were the same issue with the slow PC , so I'm looking forward to trying some out at work if I can sneak away and use our faster PCs. I did listen to the first podcast at the beginning of this adventure and and another way that podcasts could be useful would be for the handicapped .
I'm familiar with Project Gutenburg and have directed numerous patrons to that site for material that has been out of print or they can't get ahold of. One that I remember was Alice in Wonderland. It's a very useful site!!

Thing 16 & 17 WIKI WIKI WIKI !!

Somehow I missed these things!! I played in the Sandbox for a bit and posted a post. I want to explore this site further but I also think that a Wiki can benefit the Library by keeping us in better contact with each other and improving our communication within the system. Who knows??? We wont know until we try will we??

Week 8 Thing 19

I really enjoyed exploring the "short list" from the Web 2.0 awards list. I was happy to see some of the sites that we have been exploring in this journey and I hope that when this is over, and I have "extra time" (is everyone laughing hysterically now???? ) I can check out even more of the sites. I'm just amazed at all that we have available to us via the Web and that it's not just all about Google (which I actually love by the way). I'm lovin all this learning !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week 8 #18

I'm really liking the Zoho site except for one thing.......I tried to publish a post for in this Blog & it keeps saying that my Blog is "unavailable". If anyone knows what Im doing wrong, please let me know!!! It looks like a great site with many options that not only I will find useful but that I can pass off to my patrons & my children for school also.

Rollyo !!

My gosh I just created my own Rollyo search tool for Horror Movies called "So Scary....". It was hard to decide what to create but this turned out OK. Once again, I will certainly have to spend more time with this and dig deeper into the site. Thanks Jennifer for making me remember one more password !!! Just kidding!! LOL!!!!

Week 6 -Things 13, 14, 15

Here I am.... Learning Learning Learning !! I went to Del.icio.us and I believe I will eventually become a member of that site and I would really like to dig in deeper to all it has to offer.
Technorati had my head spinning !! Again , I want to check it out deeper but in the quiet of my home and I may end up using it more for work then anything.
I read 2 perspectives on the Web 2.0 Library 2.0 and the future of libraries. In "To a Temporary Place in Time" I 100% agree that the library is not just in the community but we ARE the community. Just looking around at what happens at my branch on any given day tells me that we are a social networking community in the basic sense of the word. People meet, talk, interact with all age groups, fight & argue, kiss & make-up, help strangers, & give advice & direction, just to name a few. It's a great place for kids & a great place for adults and isnt that what a community is all about????? Someone once said a few years ago that Libraries will soon be "obsolete" employing only one person & one computer...........not on my watch !!!!!!!

Week 4 RSS & Newsreaders

I setup my Bloglines newsreader account and I must say that was the easy part ! I found it overwelming and I need more time to really get into it. My head was swimming with info "overload"and I had to walk away sloooooooowly......

The online generators are really cool. I found out that my "Goth Name" is "Dancing Corpse" and when I have time I want to see what my Simpson charactor looks like!! (I can't wait to see that one *LOL***) There were so many to check out so I only looked at a few but they were all fun!!

PLAY TIME !! WEEK 5

I pulled this from my daughter's collection of many photos, quotes, etc..... and still felt like an idiot for missing one simple step for loading it on here. I'm realizing that I have to keep messing with this whole Blog "thing" just to be able to remember what all to do. I think my short-term memory is shot!!!

Thing #7

This technology is amazing and I know will be useful to me in my job. But today, I was introduced to another "journal type" site and I felt more at ease in my navigation and exploration of it because of the training so far in the 23 Things. I am sure now that if I would be questioned by a patron after this training is completed about "blogging", I would be able to walk them through the steps of setting up & using it. Thank You Jennifer H. for all your help & instruction!!!!

This is my Bedroom........

No.... just kidding ! Even though my family will disagree with me! They tell me that I should open a 6th branch of the Ruth Enlow Library!!! This is my first attempt from Flickr and it was alot of trial & error but I got it! It is a very easy site to navigate & Im looking forward to playing around with it more.

Oh my gosh! I am currently on week 3 of the 23 Things and I am finding some things easy but some things confusing. I can't wait to see how nuts I get trying to put photos on here !!*LOL** The templates are great and the main concept of a Blog is easy to do. Wish me luck all my fellow Librarians!!
